The European Flood Workshop was held in Victoria, UK, in January 2014. The workshop was organised in the framework of Work Package 5 – Adaptation Tools to prevent the health effects of flooding, coordinated by the Extreme Events and Health Protection teamof Public Health England.
The aim of this work package is to develop actions to promote resilience and reduce health risks associated with flooding, based on work carried out by the WHO Regional Office for Europeand other international networks.
The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness of the health risks of flooding and to contribute to the discussion on the reduction of future impacts by improving flood preparedness and response. The event brought together PHASE partners, national and European colleagues, key experts and stakeholder organisations, and created an opportunity to exchange experiences of flooding across and promote the sharing of good practice.
